Current October Edition
Hello! I’m Edward and I’m new to Hillside Clubhouse and will be working in the Recovery Team. As well as working one-to-one with members on their recovery, I’ll be facilitating the Gazette going forward. This is the first issue I have been involved in, and I’m thrilled to join the team! It’s been a real pleasure to work with everyone to put this issue together. I’ve been touched by the generosity and kindness of the group – and impressed by the many talents of the members.
That range of talent is on display throughout the current issue, which features member articles on a range of subjects, from a fascinating historical account of the Great Fire of London to a comprehensive article on the support offered locally by Islington Mind. There are brain-teasing riddles, and, as Halloween approaches, a spine-chilling countdown of the best horror movies ever. There’s excellent advise on how to keep your heart in good shape and an overview of parakeets and how they came to reside in the UK as well as an overview of filmic genres with top recommendations from each type!
The current issue includes two excellent short stories: the first instalment of ‘Finding Ivory’ explores a shocking family discovery and ‘Population Zero’ envisions a world on the brink of breaking point. The creative section opens with the powerful poetic offering ‘The Light in the Dark’.
The front cover features gorgeous artwork by Anthony Muoghalu, which he produced in a recent creative workshop; you can read an interview with Anthony overleaf.
