Working Futures
This project is available to help people with mental health problems overcome their barriers to employment. We can help if you:
- Want to find paid work, voluntary work or training opportunities;
- Have a mental health problem or depression
- Live in Islington, Camden or Tower Hamlets*
We offer a wide range of support that includes:
- Advice on career choice and job searching
- Individual one to one sessions with employment advisers
- Help with writing CVs, cover letters, application forms etc
- Practical hands on and up to date work experience on our work schemes
- Support to access work placements, voluntary work and further training
- Signposting to other services that offer condition management and psychological therapies including CBT
We will support you to find paid employment opportunities and then help you stay in work!

Penny Phillips, ESF Programme Manager for London Councils, explains how the Hillside Clubhouse Working Futures project fits into the London Councils remit, how it helps to address the employment and skills challenges faced by people with mental health, and what she hopes it will achieve.
Darren Olowe explains how he was looking for work in retail but could not find a job, which led to him going to Hillside Clubhouse. He describes his experience on the project and how it has increased his confidence and motivation.
Marga Stoffberg explains how the positive atmosphere and support at Hillside Clubhouse has helped her to build her confidence and her belief in her abilities, to enable her to be where she is today.

The Kiosk
Our exciting snack bar and takeaway provides a big range of hot and cold drinks including bean to cup coffee, a variety of teas and soft drinks, snacks and tasty breakfast and lunch items. The Kiosk also provides training and employment for our members and we can promise you a warm welcome, tasty home made food and excellent customer service.
Catering Project
We have a highly recommended catering team for your function, meeting or party and can take care of all your catering requirements. Our customers comment regularly on our quality, professionalism and value for money and Islington Environmental Health Officers have given us an ‘excellent’ inspection report with a four star ‘Scores on the Doors’ rating.
Our friendly and professional team can provide full catering at external events including waiting/serving staff at highly competitive rates. The great thing about this scheme is that not only do you get delicious food and drinks at competitive prices but our members also get paid the going rate for the job and have the opportunity to undertake real work in the real world. Work Tasters
We are grateful to the Trust for London for funding our Work Taster project. We have a link worker who finds work tasters with mainstream employers geared to members' wishes to try out different types of work. Whether you want to be a helicopter pilot or a receptionist our worker will try and find an employer who can spend some time showing you what the job is all about and we will provide information advice and guidance to support you with your employment goals.
