Projects
Information advice and guidance (IAG) to employment project
We provide individually tailored support and guidance coupled with direct work experience to enable our members to get into mainstream employment, voluntary work and training and we have a proven track record in making this a reality for those who have joined the project. The main aim is to increase the employability of claimants with mental health problems and help them into sustainable work. We work together with a number of external partners including a specialist job broker (Work Is…) who are able to source vacancies for us and can often shortcut some of the barriers to getting a job. We provide the following:
- Training and support to increase confidence by getting used to a work ordered day environment and getting back into work routines including work training in administration, IT, catering, practical skills etc
- One to one training and support in finding, starting and keeping a job with our IAG worker including completion of a vocational profile and up to date CV
- Support to access flexible paid work
- Support to access loads of volunteering opportunities and ‘Timebank’
- Practical support to find work including helping with applications, job search etc
- Access to fast track benefits advice (‘Better Off’ calculations) if you want to enter employment
- A highly supportive and encouraging environment
Training and employment opportunities can be tailored to individual need and no previous experience is necessary. Call our IAG Project Worker now on 020 7700 6408, email us at aislam@hillsideclubhouse.org.uk or write to us at Hillside Clubhouse, 1 Hilldrop Road, London N7 0JE.
Catering Project
We have a highly recommended catering team for your function, meeting or party and can take care of all your catering requirements. Our customers comment regularly on our quality, professionalism and value for money and Islington Environmental Health Officers have given us an ‘excellent’ inspection report with a four star ‘Scores on the Doors’ rating.
Our friendly and professional team can provide full catering at external events including waiting/serving staff at highly competitive rates. The great thing about this scheme is that not only do you get delicious food and drinks at competitive prices but our members also get paid the going rate for the job and have the opportunity to undertake real work in the real world. If you think we can help with your catering needs please call us on 020 7700 6408 and speak with Ginny Sell or email gsell@hillsideclubhouse.org.uk.
We have a range of set menu options - please click here to see sample menus (Adobe pdf document) - or are happy to cater to your specific requirements.
Safe in the City Project
We deliver this project on behalf of the Safer Homes initiative. The project gives our members great opportunities to learn basic carpentry and practical skills as well as carrying out work for the general public. Our members work alongside our worker to deliver the service which is available to residents of any London borough. We provide the following services:
- upgrading or fitting locks and security equipment in people’s homes (including window locks, door locks and spyholes and/or property marking with door entry warning stickers.
- training and distribute information packs on how to improve home security and stay safe at home.
The service is completely free of charge and we provide locks, equipment and labour. Work is carried out to a high standard. Please call Ian Alexander on 020 7700 6408 or email ialexander@hillsideclubhouse.org.uk.
